WILDCARE is a non-profit organization of volunteers trained to care for ill, injured, or orphaned native wildlife until they recover and have grown to an age where they can take care of themselves. They are then released back into the wild in an appropriate location.

Both the State of Texas and the Federal Government protect wildlife. Therefore, before WILDCARE, INC. volunteers are allowed to give housing and care to wild animals, the volunteer must have the appropriate State and Federal permits. Our volunteers learn the proper foods, housing and care of wildlife, and release methods that enable the animal to transition and succeed in the wild. WILDCARE volunteers raise these animals with others of their own kind so they will know their rightful wild heritage. The wild animals are never treated as pets.

WILDCARE volunteers and the veterinarians work together to help wildlife survive. These animals would not have otherwise survived without your help. Our reward is to return them to the wild to be free and independent.

WILDCARE operates solely from donations and the generosity of our members. Wildlife rehabilitators receive no federal or state funding for their efforts. In addition to monetary contributions, wildlife rehabilitators are willing recipients of your retired animal care items like kennels, feed and water dishes, bird cages and towels. WILDCARE is incorporated in the State of Texas as a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization.

WILDCARE partners with the DFW Wildlife Coalition. Trained volunteers from the DFW Wildlife Coalition staff a conflict resolution hotline to assist the public with wildlife issues. These volunteers will help you determine the best option for the animal you have found and direct you to a specific WILDCARE rehabber if appropriate. (972)234-WILD
